Review: James Mangold, director of 3:10 to Yuma, presented wolverine as a revival for the long dead x-men franchise. After the devastating display in X-men: Last stand, which was crucified by both fans and critics, for its blind treatment that even killed its principle characters, X-men series was struggling to hold on the screen. Two prequels were released, one as an origin story for wolverine and the other depicted the revelry between professor x and magneto. The new wolverine works as a sequel to x3, and tries to lead a path for the series in future. Taking place in Japan, Wolverine deals with the inner struggle of Logan, who grieves about the death of Jean Grey. He questions his eternity as a curse, and wanders around alone. A man, who Logan saved before a long time ago offers him a cure, which will make him mortal. Logans decisions, and subsequent incidents makes the movie. Hugh Jackman, as usual with his signature role, shines. Supporting cast, including Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima and Will Yun Lee, does justice to their roles. Mangold, with his character-oriented approach, helped the movie to fall out from comic treatment. What lacks in Wolverine is its explosive nature. The movie emphasize only on Logan. His grieve and his attempts to overcome it. No other characters, except Viper, is mutant here. That made the movie to look like a unique one in the franchise. Also, Wolverine leaves a number of loose ends, like what happened to the other mutants like Storm and Colossus. Lets see next years X-men days future past answers them all.....

Review: I am not the most discriminating of action film viewers, avid reader of Clancy and his designated batters and thought Chris Pine did a wonderful job on the Star Trek films. That said, this film was a load of rubbish....one of the few times that I seriously considered walking out mid-film. The reasons: 1. Acting was wooden across the board and the selection of Keira Knightly as Dr. Cathy Ryan was abysmally bad;2. Plot (contrary to some of the views I read) was non-existent and farcical. Unlike a good Clancy novel, no basis in reality;3. There is one scene that is particularly ridiculous. All I will ask an intelligent viewer, do you ever think a Russian oligarch worth billions would seriously consider going out to dinner with a compliance officer. I would seriously not bother going to see this film or even bother it renting it. In short, even if someone gave me free tickets with dinner included, I would now pass on the opportunity.

Review: Just got back from seeing this and thought Id put in my thoughts.This is by far the most intricate and thoughtful of the Marvel films to date, with a great story and some superb performances, particularly Hiddlestons as Loki. The characters from previous Asgard related outings are there, but thanks to some good writing, are more 3 dimensional and therefore, interesting. This is one of the few films that would have benefited from an extra 15 minutes or so to explore further the motivations of the key protagonists. There is plenty of large scale action, as well as some laugh out loud humorous moments that help to keep this kicking along.I am both surprised and delighted that this is not only the best superhero movie to date, (even eclipsing Spider-Man 2), but currently the best movie Ive seen this year.Dont miss this!

Review: The Lego Movie is a winner on several levels. There is a good amount of clever gags and I was constantly bursting with laughter. I was surprised by how it contained so many memorable cameos, pop icons and film references, providing a strong nostalgia factor to older viewers. The playful approach towards movie clichés made it a really enjoyable and refreshing watch. The animation is absolutely stunning and the blend of CGI with stop motion worked brilliantly. Everything can be attachable, making the vibe of each scenario feel very unique and unlike anything youve ever seen. The Lego Movie has plenty of heart too by the end of the journey and its going to be really tough for another animated film to surpass its inventiveness and charm.

Review: Overall a showman of a film. Flashy, loud with bells and whistles and big personalities, an exciting premise... illusionists rob banks using (supposed) magic but the four horsemen are just puppets in a game, but the hype is more than the substance of the film itself.Youd expect suspense, twists, intelligent plot misdirection and all sorts of thrilling viewing? No. This film tries to be a lot more intelligent than it actually is. Like Atlas (Eisenberg) says, Always be the most intelligent person in the room or something similar, this film thinks it is being intelligent but actually its not challenging enough. It gives too much away, isnt as unpredictable as it should be (really, you couldnt see that ending coming?) and just isnt as clever as it promises. The tricks I really wanted explaining werent... the ones that were more obvious, were explained. The ending actually isnt a denouement, as its been laying clues all along - and anyone whos seen a lot of films can see the twists coming a mile away. I focus on the twists and reveal because as a heist movie, the end is the big reveal. But, unlike Oceans Eleven, for example, it has more or less handed it to you on a plate already.The actors were good. Morgan Freeman and Woody Harrelson stealing the show, of course, with Dave Franco doing a bang up job with some incredible physical acting, stunts and so forth. Im afraid Jesse Eisenberg didnt convince in his character and was annoying after a while, Franco rather underutilised really. Isla Fisher was good but clearly the glamour rather than a serious character, which was a shame as she was good.This was supposed to be a big blockbuster film, big back drops, epic stunts and huge crowd scenes, but it failed to deliver. As heist/magic genre films go its not that great, and The Prestige was far more cerebral and gripping. Entertaining to a point but I got a bit bored, and some of the scenes were too long - chases etc. If you are a fan of heist films or magic youll enjoy it, or are a fan of particular actors, or will just enjoy it for what it is and dont want to be challenged intellectually, its a great film. I think Hollywood endings are just too commonplace. 6/10 for me.

Review: First of all, let me say that the characters were great. Diaz and Segel are very talented, funny people in comic roles. The movie overall had a very cute, however stupid, story line, but the portrayal of that story line goes down hill in a hurry thanks to the direction of the film maker. Ever since Seth Grogan came on the scene, whos mouth spews filth from every direction, Hollywood has been pushing the limits with each new comedy film. Each director trying to outdo the other in terms of gross humor. There are no secrets left in sex. None. Everything is brought out on the screen and in disgusting dialog that leave little if any to ones imagination. Call me old fashion. Call me an old fart. I just dont see the humor in Coc..s..ker and motherf...er over and over throughout the movie. What is the purpose? To see how much they can get away with and still make a boatload of $$$? To push the sensor meter to the limit and get a positive rise out of the audience? To me, this is nothing more than a serious deterioration of what little is left of societys morals. Now, its all about whatever sells.Seinfeld was hilarious. Will & Grace was hilarious. Comedy like the pink panther series was hilarious. Yet not a word of BS was spoken and folks just laughed their collective asses off. Go figure! One of the funniest comedic films of late was, Hall Pass. The charters were cast perfectly and it was a fun film to watch. Yet it did not resemble Sex Tape in any way, shape or form in language content or visual calamity. Ill be damned if I ever waste another $16. on trash like Sex Tape again. Cameron Diaz I love you, but you can do much better than this.

And these are the good guys. Similar to the way director Martin Scorseses Goodfellas glorifies the lifestyle of mafia gangsters, The Wolf of Wall Street attempts to create an enticement to the immoral habits of stockbrokers wallowing in hedonism.But in this world of white-collar crime, where the victims are faceless and there are no real villains, no threat of death or physical harm exists. Conflict and, most surprisingly, consequences, are also absent. There isnt even any character progression. Everyone starts as a money-grubbing scoundrel and ends the same way, despite encountering several opportunities to learn from their unscrupulous practices. Even if thats more magnetic, the evident drought of suspense or redemption leaves the audience with 180 minutes of darkly comedic events featuring nothing but sex and substance abuse. Its never unstimulating, but its also not much of a story.Aspiring to be a successful stockbroker, fiercely ambitious Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio) interns at an investment firm and, under the guidance of zealous salesman Mark Hanna (Matthew McConaughey), learns the tactics of persuasion. When the Black Monday stock market crash of 1987 finds Belfort unemployed, he discovers the highly profitable world of penny stocks (with their unregulated attributes) and quickly begins planning the birth of his own empire. He frequently speaks straight to the camera, braggingly unveiling his obscene wealth and expenditures (at one point hes ruffled over not making at least $1 million per day). With a three hour running time, The Wolf of Wall Street is 90% eye-popping revelry and 10% routine storytelling.The unholy exorbitance of nudity, cursing, and snorting cocaine correlates directly to the plentiful comedic scenes. Each one carries on too long, brimming with visual details that make the film earnestly earn its hard R rating. But its excessiveness is also repetitive, dragging out the festivities with titillating particulars over and over again. The entire film is conducted with a snappy, zippy, lighthearted tone (clashing with the obvious crime, again like Goodfellas), revealing masturbatory elaboration to be jovial, experiencing mind-altering highs to be frolicsome, officious salesmanship to be a thrilling avenue for scamming faceless fools, and brushing with the FBI and SEC (over IPO dishonesty) to be adventurous. Review: Robin Williams must have signed on this role while 99% intoxicated or else he wouldve have read the script before taking on the role. Right off the bat in the opening scene where his character had a bumper-to-bumper run in with a cab driver, the audience could tell that Williams made no effort to act. Did Williams realize how badly his character was written that he showed up to the set and just winged it? Also, what was Mila Kunis thinking when she was handed this script? If there was a negative 1 rating, this movie suffice. This is absolutely and utterly awful from the very beginning. Why would the people in Hollywood make such a movie? These Hollywood executives must have money they dont know how to spend. Whoever directed this movie shouldnt be given another shot to direct. I honestly mean it. It is bad all around. Terrible acting, dreadful dialogs, atrocious plot, just how, how can such a movie get made? What were the producers thinking when they got this script?
